2023-07-13: A small moment of gratitude and more things

Yes yes yes, I'm here (again).

A necessary update, for after my semi-rant a few days ago I got reminded, in a couple of ways, that I exist and that I am appreciated even when I don't believe it, when I doubt myself, etc. This is fandom related, but I should plaster my walls with these "reminders" for it's so easy to get the blues about nothing. Not that I should count on others for self-validation, but still--I can only do what I can do.

In the meantime, I'm so grateful to the people who, knowingly or not, facilitate this revelation within me. It reminds me of how very small acts of kindness and sharing can make the day of someone else, even when they're not intended to be directed at you.

Also, still about fandom: while I don't trust how social media twist our perception of communities and individual relationships between fans, they're still our playground (for many fandoms, one of the very few), and sometimes--see the acts of kindness above--taking a step forward to reach the other is still better than doing nothing.

All of this to say to myself, ah, comment on the fanfic you enjoyed, on the posts that connect to you, reach for the others in fandom; tread lightly, though, or the usual cautionary tales apply.

On the other hand, while I haven't had the time to experience a lot of media in the past few days (travelling), some random comments about stories and more things:

• The Phantom of the Opera (ALW musical) still remains nonsensical in a very funny and enjoyable way. Enjoyable expecially for the fact that it's all good singing. Then, wtf-productions appears out of nowhere, and we appreciate them. We can only appreciate.
• I went to a theatre museum and the most majestic thing I saw was a travelling wardrobe, which included hangers, drawers and all, used by (probably?) a theatre actress. The world is a place full of wonders.
• The first two episodes of My Happy Marriage (anime on Netflix) were good and I'm on board. I only need the will not to look for the light novel/manga in the meantime.
• First episode of Undead Murder Farce: I'm intrigued but not as much as I would like to. Too early to say, though.
• I still hope for some progression in Spy x Family (manga). Mind, I just enjoy it and that's enough, but... a little progression? Please?
• I bought another book by William T. Vollman, An Afghanistan Picture Show. I hope it's a good one, although maybe I would fare better with another of his Seven Dreams.
• I'm trying to listen to new music. The Rika playlist facethestrange once shared is very useful and very in line with what I want. Thank you!
• I started working on a collaborative writing project, something something vampires (not the name, but I must stay quiet for now I think). Vampires!

But most of all, as a palate cleanser before going into the revision of my longfic, I joined the julybreakbingo. Be it writing or embroidery I hope I can create something fun and different.
