It's a very interesting thought. There's a lot of fannish history that's been lost over time - Google archived a lot of Usenet but it's very difficult to go back and find my posts from college. Similarly, IRC discussions, convention program books, fanzines, and so forth may be lost forever. Less-popular books go out of print while problematic authors seem to hang on forever.
I'm glad so many people are participating in this challenge. At least we get glimpses.
