The good thing about Umineko is that non-commented playthroughs of the game (in different versions) are all over youtube. While playing it on your own has a value (you decide your speed, where to stop, what to go through quickly), the playthrough give you a good idea of how the visual novel is. Check out "Lambdadelto" (with an 'o') on youtube, they have all of the playthroughs for example, with different sprites (the original drawn by Ryukishi or the newest ones with the animation).
The VNs (with a free mod, if you get the one on pc/mac) are also all dubbed by voice actors. (All reprise their roles in the anime I think. Also the anime keeps the same music).
