I will proceed in a random order.
In your own space, post the results of your fandom scavenger hunt. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Search in your current space, whether brick-and-mortar or digital. Post a picture or description of something that is or represents:
1. A favorite character
Armin Arlert is still one of my favorite characters, not only in terms of his motifs in the story of SnK but especially in how I enjoy developing them in my stories. He's so interesting to write and he's so funny.
2. Something that makes you laugh
A panel from Kaguya-sama. No context but it's not needed: this had me laugh so much for the way it captures certain truths always valid for bourgeois-upper class solutions to problems.
3. A bookshelf
I can't keep my bookshelves in order.
4. A game or hobby you enjoy
Making ragdolls is very challenging and fun. This is Anya from Spy x Family.
5. Something you find comforting
Curiously, any depiction of Lady Bernkastel, the cruelest witch from Umineko, gives me great comfort.
6. A TV show or movie you hope more people will watch
Yeah yeah technically it's not exactly unheard of, but...
Please watch Attack on Titan. The anime adaptation is reaching its end this year and it's going to be glorious. It has very interesting themes and characters to explore in fanfic. (Yeah I will make another plea soon, probably.)
7. A piece of clothing you love
A super-warm rust alpaca coat I found in a thrift shop. (Not with me currently)
8. A thing from an old fandom
A very old Harry Potter owl which, despite my current feelings for HP, I will need to clean. Poor owl.
9. A thing from a new fandom
A Mr. Chimaera plushie for an Anya (Spy x Family) cosplay :)
I hope you found something interesting! (I found... dust.)

Date: 2023-01-14 11:21 pm (UTC)Of course! It's a fine fandom, with very detailed, or should I say, granular worldbuilding done by the original canon and fans alike ;D
Jokes aside... what a mess xD

Date: 2023-01-14 11:33 pm (UTC)Thank you! The hair was really hard to understand how to make (I used a pattern for the body, but the rest was up to me to figure out in order to make it look like the character), I did it twice... poor Anya :(
I think that Umineko is incredible -- really, it's difficult to even express what it does with stories. It has to be experienced to know, and I would love to see you get to it çç
Some info I need to disclose: a common saying among Umineko fans is that the anime doesn't exist, because it isn't complete and it messes up the story to the point that some of the mysteries are not solvable anymore in the way the anime tells them. However I first fell in love with Umineko through the anime back in 2012, so IMHO... anything goes. Also: it has another incredible opening.
However, if you want to read the complete story: visual novels or manga are the way to go. The VNs are a real commitment (all together they're... very long), but they have incredible music and they're very effective. The manga is beautifully drawn (I like Kei Natsumi's art especially) and mostly faithful to the VNs, so that is also a good choice.
(This is just to give you a general sense of where you can go with it, but if in doubt or if you want to know more please feel free to ask me.)

This makes it sound exciting af, can't wait. :D
I honestly care so much more about characters than I've ever cared about any mystery, so I think I'm good with the anime. :D I've never read/experienced/played (idk what you would even call what you do with them xD) a visual novel, so I would love to try one at some point, though. :D When I hear that something is long I'm immediately on board, lol! ♡ But I'd probably start with Higurashi, I don't know yet. :)

Date: 2023-01-20 05:59 pm (UTC)The good thing about Umineko is that non-commented playthroughs of the game (in different versions) are all over youtube. While playing it on your own has a value (you decide your speed, where to stop, what to go through quickly), the playthrough give you a good idea of how the visual novel is. Check out "Lambdadelto" (with an 'o') on youtube, they have all of the playthroughs for example, with different sprites (the original drawn by Ryukishi or the newest ones with the animation). The VNs (with a free mod, if you get the one on pc/mac) are also all dubbed by voice actors. (All reprise their roles in the anime I think. Also the anime keeps the same music).
